Artist History
Los Angeles based BadchilE, has brought yet another style of Southern California punk into the foreground. With in-your-face punk rock vocals, a psychotic rhythm section, and guitar tones of Circle Jerks & Minor Threat in a blender on grind, this band is denting their way through the music scene. BadchilE has proved to be one of the hardest working DIY punk bands in LA. They released a self-titled CD in late 1998, a live CD "Live At Our House" in 2001 and "Social Security" in 2002. They have self-released two live and behind the scenes videos entitled 'Rotten Salsa' and 'Whatz Dat Smell?' through Scooter Productions. They are also featured on "Tryptophan," a live 10 SoCal punk band video compilation released in Feb 2003. They just released a Special Edition, digitally remastered, "Whatz Dat Smell?" DVD in late 2003, including footage from 1999 to 2003. BadchilE has received air-play in California, New York, Tennessee & Ohio. They have been featured on UPN Channel 13, P-TV hosted by the PoorMan from KROQ and are currently featured on more than 12 internet radio stations. BadchilE first took shape in the mid 90s and have gone through numerous member changes. With the recent return of Roger on vocals, the band has overhauled it's traditional sound into a more dynamic direction. BadchilE has played such notable LA venues as The Roxy, The Whiskey, Coconut Teaserz, American Legion Hall, The Foothill, Gabah (formerly Anti-Club), Club Bollocks, Al's Bar, 14 Below, The Lighthouse, The House Of Sound in Arizona, The Covered Wagon (CW) in San Francisco, and Cooler Lounge in Las Vegas. They have shared bills with Straight Faced, Union13, 1208, Western Waste, Dr. Know, 98Mute, Prop13, ADZ (formerly The Adolescence), Tongue, Spooky, Portraits Of Poverty, Hot Box, Drain Bramaged, Bottom 12, All Or Nothing, Smut Peddlers and Rubber Neck. |

Press Reviews
"The System Of A Down of punk rock" -John, MEDIA KITCHEN ... "I love these guys! This is straight ahead hardcore punk. This is not junior high bubble gum punk. This is in the pit, kick your ass punk rock!" -MAGGOT RADIO ... "This five-piece has only two speeds, "stop" and "go," and the "go" is usually a lot of "go." With a "rock'em, sock'em," attitude they pound at the audience driving home their musical point. I'm more into the energy from a band and with Bad Chile there's plenty of that. These guys snap it right out and get to work. Sprinting through song after song. The band's tempo ranges from fast to faster. Behind it all is drummer Joe Ibarra. When playing, his kit rocks around like he's riding a bike with a bent wheel. The drums may move, but Joe knows where they are and beats them without mercy, driving the band through the adrenaline pumped set. This band is like a locomotive, on rails, with a full head of steam, they keep baring down on the audience. Scooter and Carlos trade rhythm and lead with a competitive spirit, as well as, adding backing vocals. The band's bassist lays down a solid foundation for the band's romp. The group is in the business of getting people to know who they are. Along with them they bring CDs, t-shirts and videos all available at low street pricing. They're definitely working the room." -SHADOWBAND MAGAZINE ... "Great local hardcore! Reminded me a lot of old SOIA. Fast, tight and pissed off!" -INTERNET INTERVIEW ... "Exuberance takes you a long way, and Bad Chile has tons of it on their self-titled CD. Bashing out a sound assault centered around guitarists Carlos and Scooter recalls early Suicidals, pre-Henry Black Flag, and Minor Threat." -SHADOWLAND ZINE ... "Old school punk!! A debut self-release by five guys that know how to have fun and rock at the same time. Great release by a real DIY band. This fuckin' rips." -CENSOR THIS ZINE ... "This CD reminds me of early 7 Seconds. Best songs are Why, Sancho Clause and Racciones Violentas cuz they're fast. Get this for pizza night!" -NO-FI MAGAZINE ... "These bad boys from LA are fully in your face, straight out punk rawk. Take a little early Suicidal, some R.K.L., and a bit of those crunchy guitars reminiscent of Minor Threat and you've got Bad Chile!" -SKRATCH MAGAZINE ... "Fast, bone crushing punk rock with a touch of hardcore. This CD was meant to be played loud -- especially with songs No Bank / No Skank, Str8 Jacket, and China White. Personally, I love this CD. It's worth checking out if you like heavy, fast punk." -STREET JUNK ZINE |
