    Artist description
The Amazon Mollies defy traditional genre classification, offering a tasty smorgasboard of punk, rock, folk (of various traditions) and radical political thought. Based in San Francisco, they have received airplay on several California radio stations (KCDU-Santa Cruz/Monterey; KMBY-Santa Cruz/Monterey; KPFA-San Francisco Bay; KAZU-Pacific Grove; B93/Modesto-Stockton), as well as tens of thousands of MP3 downloads worldwide via major clearinghouses like MP3.com (#1 song in Folk Punk & New Wave categories), riffage.com, AMP3.com and garageband.com. Based on their extensive Internet success, the Amazon Mollies were featured in the recently published, Idiots Guide to Internet Music, which also included a CD compilation of MP3 singles. Their most recent release was bought by fans all over the United States and countries including Japan, Korea, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic. A recent buyer from Croatia posted a five star review of the Amazon Mollies latest album, while a Japanese fan created a special website featuring the Mollies!

    Press Reviews
From SJ Mercury News "The Amazon Mollies have nerve & verve," June 1999; The Toronto Star, "The Music was Everywhere at NXNE", Ira BandMonday, June 15, 1998"Much-hyped band Joydrop and Starling were good enough Saturday night at the Reverb, but it was more ofa hoot to see the three diminutive women, inappropriately called Amazon Mollies, doing their folk/punk thingin the cozy, sofa-laden environs of Holy Joe's."Popped.Com (E-zine) "Saturday night at NXNE"June 13, 1998"They were definitely cool. Another trio, they were all wearing matching dresses, these '60's mini-dresses,fishnets and go-go boots, and in the bassist's case, a feather boa. All three members of the band sang(versatility is cool) and they had a little easel set up with the names of all of the band's songs on it. The songtitles were the best: "Toast Sweat", "That Time of the Month", "Dork Tattoo" - a song about someone youjust can't get rid of: "It's like having a big ol' dork tattoo". I had a chance to talk to them after the show andthey were all so nice! They told me that they'd been out to see a lot of the NXNE bands, and had gotten shinsplints from walking so much. They reminded me a little of Cub. I absolutely bought their CD."
