    Artist History
THE ALMIGHTY TORSION (really just TORSION, but some other band got here first)was formed in 1996 when Rockford's Thump dissolved. Tony from R.T. decided to join bassist Jared's other project, then known as Moloko Plus. With the addition of Tony's guitar and vocals, everything became cake. TORSION then spent four years making dumb hicks scratch their heads in panicked awe. They recorded the 'Seward' EP soon after their inception. This remains an elusive gem of the Northwest underground scene. They honed their songwriting thereafter, focusing on their butt-rock tendencies and eschewing the alt-punk stance of their earlier material. From this turbulent period comes the 'Swank' album, a tortured cry from a group torn between punk purism and raw metal crunch. Rumor has it TORSION recorded 'Swank' with $200 they made playing two nights in a herpes-infested dive in Kingston, WA for a less-than-enthusiastic crowd of local alcoholics. Unfortunately, guitarist Dennis Gooden left the band not long after the 'Swank' sessions. With their noise factor cut by 75 watts, TORSION became a somewhat leaner beast. They streamlined their songs, and struggled with the pain of having to cut down on 20-minute feedback sessions while playing live. After succumbing even more to the influence of metal, they returned to the studio in the summer of 1998 to record their latest effort, 'Demonstra'. Included here are several songs from those sessions, hopefully capturing the tone of the band as a whole.TORSION is a highly-evolved killing machine, ready for more exposure than they're worth. Since Eric moved to Italy, however, TORSION is currently on hiatus.
