Artist History
Founded in 1990 by high school chums Josh Bentley, Lyle Erickson, Chad Fifer, and Timothy Clark, Pitch Black Manor was mostly an excuse to hang out in Josh's basement and smoke. After seeing a mysterious tentacle disappear into the Mississippi, the boys actually started writing songs and learning to play their instruments, at which time Clark left the band and a coffin was built for live shows. They made their debut performance that summer as an opening act for The Legendary Pink Dots. The band continued to play locally and tour around the Midwest for about 6 years, later playing a lot of dates with satanic rockers Electric Hellfire Club. Pitch Black Manor was celebrated for its innovative and entertaining live shows, in which the band used real dancing zombies, a variety of masks and one unholy pair of snakeskin briefs to enhance their already disturbing performance. The group dissipated around ’96 after everybody graduated from college and Lyle was institutionalized. Bentley now rocks with QC-based Savage Gentlemen, Fifer plays in Los Angeles with Fear Boys With Bugs and Spyder, while Erickson still performs from behind white walls with pervert-rockers Creeping Charlie. |
