Press Reviews
Music Maker:What a great record! King Me makes alternative guitar pop like Pavement and the Radiohead of OK Computer. On this debut the band combines noisy riffs and menacing distorted vocals with hoovering vocal melodies and beautiful string arrangements. The CD contains nine jewels, without a weak moment. The climax is the song Stay, maybe one of the best songs ever written by a Dutch band. So much of honest drama, so much of dynamics. The choruses cut right through you in a way that hurts. This counts for more moments on the CD. The songs are in a variety of styles, but have all the same mood. The CD breathes a dark, melancholic feeling, without getting too depressed. The production is in complete balance with the songs. Raw, dynamic, sometimes lo-fi. |
