Artist description In the world of guitar virtuosos, Frank Gambale is a relentless innovator and a legend among players. Throughout his career he has garnered praise for his superior command of the instrument and for his world renowned guitar technique known as "sweep picking."Gambale was formerly part of Chick Corea's Elektric band and recorded five albums with fellow band mates John Pattitucci, Dave Weckl and Eric Marienthal before leaving in 1993 to fully dedicate himself to his solo career. Gambale is also one quarter of superstar jazz band Vital Information.Jerry Garcia summed up Frank Gambale's style by stating, ".... his playing is ferocious. It's a whole different sound, which he gets from his choice of intervals. His smoothness is unbelievable. I never heard a guitar player play that kind of stuff. That snap, the clarity!
