Artist History
Our three intrepid heroes enjoyed brief acclaim as a live act in the North of England ("You were quite good" - bloke in gents toilets). When the band, Evil Fish, (note the subtle typographic difference) went the way of most bands, Thackur and Louis closeted themselves away in Da Fish Tank, their York HQ, and knocked together the Welcome To Da Fish Tank EP. As usual, disaster struck and Louis had to flee into tax exile in Watford. Thackur and Vix conquered their Luddite tendancies and bought a veritable behemoth of a PC, with which they could pursue their artistic vision and make damn sure they never sat through another drum soundcheck ever again. |

Press Reviews
From :Here magazine, York, August 2000 issue, review of the Welcome To Da Fish Tank EP. "The EP is driven by an ethereal and atmospheric feel, with a mass of vocal samples woven twixt the drum loops and guitar and bass hooks... while it begs comparison to the workings of DJ Shadow it leaves behind Shadow's hard-edge beats, swaying more towards the melting, drug-hazy feel of the Velvet Underground. Highly recommended."From: Charm magazine (York, Leeds, Harrogate), Sept 2000 issue, review of the Welcome To Da Fish Tank EP: "An impressive selection of of intelligent and tastefully downbeat lo-fi hip-hop." |
