    Artist description
There is no question that female emcees have finally achieved the recognition that they truly deserve in today's male dominated Hip Hop industry. Chart-topping success stories such as Salt-N-Pepa, MC Lyte, and Queen Latifah, paved the way for the current onslaught of "new schoolers", Lil' Kim, Foxxy Brown, Bahamadia, Da Brat, Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliot, and Lauryn Hill. However, a new crop of female emcees, otherwise known as the 'forgotten clique' have banded together to form Deadly VenomS, Protect Ya Neck Record's effeminate answer to Wu-Tang Clan.
    Artist History
Deadly VenomS are Finesse, N-Tyce, J-Boo, and Champ MC. Each of the ladies bring their individual styles and personalities to create what may be the highest anticipated formation in history since the return of EPMD. The significance of this union may very well be that each Venom possess their individual trials and tribulations in the record business therefore bringing the highest level of lyrical skills, respect and experience to the forefront.Taking time to develop and nurture the entire project, VenomS is the brainchild of producers Storm and Russell "Russ Prez" Pressley. "We knew that a change was needed in the way females were perceived in the industry, so we immediately contacted legendary emcees Finesse and N-Tyce who subsequently recruited J-Boo, a fresh lyrical threat from Queensbridge," explains Storm., "They were the original VenomS."Soon thereafter, Champ MC was added to complete the present flavorful masterpiece known today as Deadly VenomS. However, you must comprehend the history of each Venom member to understand the future.Back in early 1987, Finesse gained enormous popularity as one-half of the pioneering duo, `Finesse and Synquis`. The second group signed to Uptown Records, `Finesse & Synquis` first appeared on the compilation single and video, "Uptown's Kickin It". Known for the smash hit, "Soul Sisters", (complete with the trademark MCM outfits), true Hip-Hop purists cannot dismiss their contributions to the early formation of Hip-Hop culture.Finesse says, "Experience taught me to stick and move. I want to change the perception of female artists and bring back the "realness".Wasting no time, Finesse brings her matured style of delivery to the VenomS thereby adding the 'pretty thug' flavor to the band. N-Tyce began her career as an emcee at the tender age of 18 in Greensboro, North Carolina. In 1990, she achieved underground notoriety with the single and video, "Black to the Point" on Wild Pitch Records. However, it wasn't until the commercial release of 1994's "Hush Hush Tip" that folks began to wake up and take notice of this beautiful and flirtatious lyrical powerhouse. N-Tyce pays homage to all the female rappers that have paved the way for her development as an emcee. "Each Venom has a different vibe, but it all comes together in the studio," she explains, "Every day is a new experience."You can hear N-Tyce's distinct voice as she delivers the hook in the explosive debut single, "Bomb Threat"."Hip Hop is my life," says Champ MC, "I went to a lot of parties growing up, however, I went to a lot of Rakim's shows. I studied his style of delivery and lyrics. Rakim is one of my all-time favorite emcees."By the time she turned 19, Champ MC was signed to EastWest/Elektra Records and released the highly touted single, "Keep It On The Real", which immediately saturated the underground circuit. The sophomore single, "Sisters Betta Recognize" featuring labelmate, Michael Speaks soon followed, however an album never materialized and fans were left wondering what happened to Champ MC."We are a tight clique, always looking out for each other," explains Champ, "VenomS is what the music industry has been waiting for; a female rap group with mad skills!"Perhaps considered the "newbie" of the VenomS, J-Boo is no stranger to the art form of emceein'. She credits Roxanne Shante' as a key influence in her desire to become an emcee. A native of Queensbridge, home of such rap superstars, Mobb Deep and Nas, J-Boo plans to continue this legacy by delivering dope rhymes while striving to learn everything she can about the music business."Hip Hop is an expression of everyday life," says J-Boo, "It shouldn't be just one specific way. It's infinite. " John "Mook" Gibbons, CEO of Protect Ya Neck Records and Wu-Tang Management, envisions VenomS as a force to be reckoned with in 1998. So far, the group has performed in a variety of showcases including the 1996 'How Can I Be Down?' in Miami, and venues around the Tri-State area. Fans should expect energetic and memorable shows in future performances to come.N-Tyce adds,"Performing live is my favorite part of this whole thing". The saga continues in 1998 as Protect Ya Neck Records present another chamber in the ongoing Wu-Tang empire. Let it be known that VenomS are infinite and expect more female emcees to join the ranks of this impending lyrical assault team. Female emcees have truly arrived in the form of Deadly Venoms.
