Press Reviews
Infinity Press, William Murg - Circumference / Thousand Points of Light **** Public Works Jeremy, Bethany, and Aaron Turon are currently residing in Florida, however Jeremy was born and raised in Oklahoma. Their band, Circumference, is gathering a national cult fan base due to their exposure on the web at http://www.mp3.com/circumference. Their music is an ambient, industrial, rhythmic mix that never wears out it’s welcome; it is composed rather than randomly discovered or improvised. Jeremy describes their genre as “electronic’ which is a pretty good way of summing up their influence; electronic music is so big that it has become an entity unto itself. What makes Circumference stand out is the perfect balance between the two extremes. While most electronic music today tends to be either completely blissful, or completely noisy, Circumference can combine both elements into a seamless stream of consciousness that is ominous and harmonically beautiful at the same time. A psychedelic melt down, such as “Public Gardens” (from Circumference) contains some of the most sublime harmonies in the background you will ever hear. “Luminous Engine”(from Thousand) is an emotionless dance track with ghostly waves in the background that commandeer the song at one point, then the rhythm slowly comes back in an aural space that looms like the desert landscape sprawled out in front of a weary traveler. “84-Steps Further” is a beautiful minimalist work that shimmers. The lovely “Circular Motion” is a simple tune heavily produced and arranged into a melting electronic symphony. Check out their mp3 page, where all of their recordings are available. Circumference definitely has what it takes to become a highly respected group. - WMurg |
