Artist History
The Idea for Tow Truck Tom was Born in the summer of 1998. Being fed up with the quality of music on the radio, Eric and I thought it would be a good idea to see if we could do any better. We began writing music together and within a couple of days we had a couple of songs written. Now we needed someone who could step in and write Lyrics and melodies for this music we had. Paul was our first choice and he stepped up to the challenge and seemed to completely understand what we were striving for and fit into the project perfectly. Next was a drummer and we asked a mutual freind of ours, Greg gladly accepted the challenge. The intial idea for Tow Truck was to bring in different musicians for the recording of the CD basing it around our music and the 4 people that we already had in place. It was for this reason that a Bass player was not immediatley added.About 2 years passed and we continued writing but we rarley practiced. At times it looked as if Tow Truck was going to fall through the cracks. Greg and I were playing in a classic rock/blues band at the time and Paul and Eric were playing for another classic rock band. We could never seem to get our schedules together. Finally we decided that enough is enough and we better get to work on this or all the music that has been written would be in vein! We selected 11 of what we thought to be the best songs and got another friend from yet another band to come in and lay down the Bass lines. Keith stepped in and wrote all the Bass lines in just a few short practices and we were off to the studio.About this time and old friend had moved back into the area and so we asked him to round out our sound a little bit and add a acoustic guitar to the songs. Finally, we had the right people in place, the songs written and the studio booked.......In Januaury 2000 we went into R&E Sound Studios in Fergus Falls, MN and recorded the CD in a matter of about 4 days. The mixing however would become a touchy issue that no one could ever seem to agree on. But finally, after a couple of years of tears and a whole hell of a lot of beers, we are proud to present "Tow Truck Tom & the Roadside Wrecks" debut CD, "20 GALLON DISASTER"..............
