Ok everyone pronounce this with me:
Bee-myo-nah Yo-ko-she-mah (Say-kets)
I can't pronounce most of it but I sure can listen to it. When starting the song I had no clue as to what to expect. But in reading the description I discovered that this track is a remix of an earlier track Strider had done. The other track is titled BimyonaYokoshima (Delecate Evil) and while the strings and melody were luring at first , the song as a while was lacking something that special something. After all it did have a weak drum beat, sound equalization was WAY off, and it felt like it was put on repeat for five minutes. So lets all thank God that he did not place that song up for review. But he did place the remix of it, and the remix is what counts.
As I was saying, I had no clue as to what to expect. I will tell you that this track is very similar to Orbital's 1992 masterpiece "Halcyon" in the respect of its progression in the first two minutes. This track starts out with lengthy and powerful strings, a bubbly harp, and a light flute. With the arrangements being so incredibly catchy and outright perfect, you feel content with the track already. Everything seems fine, and you don't expect anything more. Well, that is until the track takes a drastic turn at about 1 minute and 29 seconds in when you get the first whiff of the rest of the song when the initial drumbeat kicks in. And what a drumbeat it is! Its rich, its jungle, its Aphex Twinny, its the song will that blow you away. However, the only small drawback is that every once and a while there is a a couple of bass drums that seem a little out of place, but its not a real big problem.
This track deserves an unusually high ranking because, not only is it Striders best piece to date, it is one of the best pieces of electronic music I have heard to date. Its instantly familiar to the listener but its like nothing they have ever heard before. Strider's music has so much confidence, its almost intimidating at times (you only think that after you do a review on him and analyze the daylights out of his music). This track also comes across as a turning point for Strider's music. Tracks like "Moses" and "Jodensai" both have the potential to be great songs, but they never really accomplished that whole specific original groove that this artist was trying to achieve. In all, this track is outright mindblowing It will keep you on the edge of your recliner for many months to come. Frankly, I've never heard symphonic dnb before, but there is a first for everything huh.
