Artist description
A duo of MCs, who enter the stage as one with a common gift of rhyme, and then split like fission to display lyrics with a raw and genuine fury. Accapella you ask? Hell No! A beat technician lays down a pounding, yet freaky style of original hip-hop beats that will leave you trying to figure out what guru he modeled them after (but you won't). Accompany this with a dose of low hypnotic bass riffs and reeling samples that pull you in, wrap you up like duct tape, and torture you with the most authentic and crafty loops. After this second course of gluttonous excess rips road-map like stretch marks into your skin, a DJ uses his master chef skills to rip, dice and slash vinyl with the utmost irreverence. Remember when you asked yourself who would be the next group to pick up the mic after the legends and pioneers of hip-hop dropped it and take it to the zone of proximal development? The group is Poets of Another Breed. |

Artist History
The roots were planted firmly in the summer of 1995. Realizing that self expression through lyrics was a necessity in Ohio, the leaders of P.A.B. seized every opportunity and made every location their forum to push crowds to their limits. The central focus and goal of Poets of Another Breed is to draw the masses in during live shows through constant interaction until the stage is erased and the connection is made. Whether it is a block party atmosphere or a chaotic, frenzied mob, the six members of P.A.B. will leave their stain on every listener. Throughout their first three years, the poets have made tremendous strides to capture new audiences. Playing countless shows and covering Ohio from the River to Lake Erie, P.A.B. will continue to spread the new style. Double opening stints for such major label acts as Salt N Pepa, Everlast, The SugarHill Gang and Kid Rock have helped the poets reach diverse crowds. Showcases at Undercurrents Expo in Cleveland, Ohio and numerous compilations such as Ohio Sound-Off Vol. 2 have also exposed P.A.B. The poets also contributed singles to independent films and have been selected to play at colleges, university festivals and parties. Singles from P.A.B.'s debut EP Rhyme Residence have been heard on many college stations and featured in articles from the Akron Beacon Journal to Cleveland's Scene Magazine. Numerous college publications have also picked up on the hype. |
