    Artist History
    Marianna Rashkovetsky was born in Moscow. At the age of 6 she began studying piano with Julia Nebolsin. In 1971 she was accepted for study at the prestigious Gnessin College of Music, one of the oldest music schools in Russia. Graduating with honors, she then entered Gnessin Academy of Music, where she continued her education with the Lina Bulatova, the distinguished pedagogue who had her studied with both Elena Gnessina and the legendary Heinrich Neuhaus. Ms. Rashkovetsky served on the faculties of the Dunaevsky School of Music in Moscow and the Allegro Center for Music and Aesthetics in Moscow. Prior to emigration to the USA, she concertized often in Russia, Czechoslovakia, and Bulgaria. Ms. Rashkovetsky maintains an active concert schedule in the United States, both as soloist and chamber music musician. Now an American citizen she lives in Boston and performs extensively throughout New England. She has performed at the Edward Pickman Concert Hall (Cambridge); at the Kaliroscope Gallery (Groton); on radio and television; at the Tsai Performance Center, and at the Methuen Memorial Music Hall. Ms. Rashkovetsky has played on the concert series of the Multicultural Art Center (Cambridge); at Merrimack College (North Andover) and at MIT in Boston. She frequently performs with members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and as a guest artist with the New England Chamber Music Ensemble. Currently Marianna Rashkovetsky is on the faculty of the Indian Hill Music Center where she teaches more than 40 students. She is a founder and Artistic Director of the Russian-American Music Association (RAMA), which was established in 1997 to foster Russian Music traditions and facilitate communication between the musical communities of the two nations. She is also co-founder and Head of the Jury of the International Festival "Young Virtuosos at Carnegie Hall," the Boston-based competition for young musicians. At the same time she is a founder and active participant of the Russian American Music Association Piano Trio (the RAMA Trio). In 2000 this ensemble has received a grant from Steinart & Son Corporation, which allowed them to launch a concert series throughout 2000-2001 concert season. This cycle of trio recitals took place at the Edward Pickman Concert Hall in Cambridge and included works by Schubert, Shostakovich, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Rakhmaninov, Chopin, and Shapiro. In September of 2000 Ms. Rashkovetsky completed several recording sessions at Jordan Hall in Boston. During these sessions she recorded works by Scarlatti, Bach, Chopin, Schubert and Liszt. Her debut CD with works by Scarlatti, Schubert and Liszt will be issued on Angelok label in the spring of 2002. MP3.com released her CD with works of Bach in February 2001. On April 17 2001 Ms. Rashkovetsky gave a recital in the Grand Hall of the Gnessin Academy in Moscow Russia with the program of Scarlatti’s Sonatas. In September of 2001 Ms. Rashkovetsky completed her second round of recording sessions at Jordan Hall in Boston. At this time she recorded works by Bach and Grieg. On February 2 of 2002 Ms. Rashkovetsky played in San Antonio, TX with the members of the RAMA Trio (Alexy Shabalin, violin and Rafael Popper-Kreisler, cello). They performed trios by Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn. Ms. Rashkovetsky has been commissioned to perform a Triple Concerto by Beethoven with the members of the RAMA Trio (Alexy Shabalin, violin and Rafael Popper-Kreisler, cello) and with Indian Hill symphony Orchestra under the direction of Bruce Hangen. This concert is scheduled for March 23, 2002 at Indian Hill Music Center in Littleton, MA. Ms. Rashkovetsky has also been commissioned to play a solo recital in an Aspire to the Arts series in New Salem, MA scheduled for July 13 2002.
