Artist description
An artist, I'm not. I enjoy singing and playing the guit-box, and I write some sing-songy poems that sometimes lend themselves to pseudo-pop campfire songs. |
 |
Music Style
This is chord-strumming stuff, friend. Expect neither virtuosity nor the profound. |
 |
Musical Influences
I really like Pearl Jam, Red House Painters, Tim Easton, Creeper Lagoon, Better Than Ezra, Sunny Day Real Estate, Elliot Smith, and so on. The radio I listen to: 90.3 in Seattle WA, 101.1 in Columbus OH, 92.1 in Pittsburgh PA, and 88.5 in Atlanta GA. |

Similar Artists
I have been told that I sound like Toad the Wet Sprocket, Duncan Shiek, Better Than Ezra, and James Taylor. I suppose all of these comparisons were meant to be compliments. |

Artist History
I learned to play the guitar in 1995 when I was a sophomore in high school because being in a band was the coolest thing that, in my mind, I could possibly do. I have been the stereotypical singer-songwriter in the years since high school, playing only for my girlfriend or the intoxicated. I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2002 with a BA in English Literature and a BS in Neuroscience, and now am a second year medical student at Emory University, where I play the bass in an eclectic cover band with my classmates called the Rhythm Method. |

Group Members
Dave Mays plays the guitar and sings. In the past, I have invented and played songs with Todd Seimer, my brother Darren, and also the late Alan Crowell (who got me started playing the guitar) and Jeremy Hedges. |
