Artist History
Saxophonist Calvin Scott, Jr. was born in Montgomery, Alabama and at the age of 13 began performing in his father's blues band while still attending school and running the football. "I didn't want to play the saxophone", Calvin said. Being a football running back, I thought playing a school band instrument was for sissys. But GOD had other plans for Calvin, just 2 days before the big game opener he broke his ankle and was on crutches for over 6 months. During that time Calvin had nothing else to do but learn to play the saxophone. Shortly after high school in 1983, Calvin moved to Atlanta, Georgia to attend college. Graduated from DeVry Institute of Technology and has been working as a Computer Engineer by day and a local studio saxophonist by night. Occassionally, he gigs with local bands in and around the Atlanta. "The build to With You has been an 18-month project," says Calvin. "I got tired of hearing smooth jazz stations play 80's R&B and call it smooth jazz. So I decided to give them some fresh new tunes to play. |
