Artist History
Robert Thomas Kuhlmann and his long-time songwriting partner-in-crime George Schneller (aka John Doran) were founding members of Dear John and Page 3, which were staples on the St. Louis new wave/power pop scene in the early 80's. After relocating to Venice, California in 1985, their songwriting partnership blossomed. They began performing their brand of heartland rock and roll in clubs around Southern California as the Orchids before evolving into the Last American Heroes in 1989. After nearly 10 years of gigs (and numerous personnel changes) the band eventually went on hiatus in 1994. Robert and George reunited with drummer Tim Berry (Last American Heroes) and guitarist Randy Erickson (Page 3) for a rare appearance in St. Louis in late June 2001, performing material that spanned their 20+ year musical career together. Since 1989 Robert has also appeared regularly as a solo acoustic artist, including performances at SXSW in 1992 and 1993. He continues to write and record with various collaborators in the Los Angeles area and is currently gearing up for live performances with a new band, The Pros from Dover, which includes Last American Heroes guitarist Pete Sheppard. |
