Artist History
Formed in early 1998 by Tim White and Ben Woodring, Grand Shaft was the creation of two young DJs who had almost nothing to make music with. In fact, the music just blew. The pair's first creation was a weak "Take me Out to the Ballgame Club Mix (which was later destroyed)."
In early 1999, Kyle Troester joined with the two and added much inspiration and input. Shortly after this, Evan joined GS. "Shaft the System" was created over the summer of 1999 at shorehouses, bedrooms, or wherever they could make music. Though it was a major load of shitty music, "Shaft the System" became popular locally, giving Grand Shaft enough money to purchase the Roland 505 Groovebox, which has become the main source for much of our new music. We now use a Roland Groovebox 505 and a Yamaha PSR-230 to play a party once and a while, but for the most part, Grand Shaft is working on our next CD, due out this fall. |
