Artist description
Folk Rock from Frankfurt - "Jiggling Kicks!" Forget everything you thought you knew about folk music. The sound of the legendary Dubliners, traditional animated drinking songs, and soulful campfire songs are not to be found in the repertoire of Eileen Q. But mix these classic Celtic and Irish folk roots with driving, rocking rhythms, and you have an idea how this group from Germany sounds. |

Artist History
From its humble beginnings as an idea spawned on a vacation trip by folk-enthusiast Thomas and hard-rocker Jörg, Eileen Q came into being when bassist Zoppo, fiddler Norbert Völker, and drummer Basti came on board. After their first concert in 1995, they went on in 1997 to win second place at the 1822 Rock Festival in Frankfurt, which helped enable them to produce their first CD. Since then they have played concerts throughout Germany, from Hamburg to Stuttgart. Concert highlights include the Katholikentag in Mainz 1998, with an estimated crowd of 3000; opening act for Paddy Goes to Holyhead and the Oysterband (both in 1999); and Katholikentag in Hamburg 2000, where at one concert they delighted an crowd estimated between 5000 and 7000. In May of 2000 their long-awaited second CD, "Tape 52" was completed and ready for release. |
