    Artist description
John Lennon once said, "There was no music before Sun". He was referring to Sun records. Carl Perkins was there in the beginning at Sun Records with SamPhillips, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash; all giants whose rockabilly music redefined popular music forever. Today, years later, Perkins is, posthumously, still proving to audiences and critics alike that he was not simply one of the first, he was one of the best.Carl Perkins had a successful music career that spanned four decades. His self-penned "Blue Suede Shoes" sold over two million copies on the Sun label before it was cut by Elvis and sold millions more. It was the first record to simultaneously top the pop, country, and rhythm and blues charts. A few years ago Perkins was presented the National Academy of Arts & Sciences, "Lifetime Achievement Award" for "Blue Suede Shoes."Having the first ever international smash hit coupled with Perkins consistency in playing what he once called "feel good" music earned him the title "Father of Rockabilly Music. "Perkins ranks alongside Chuck Berry as the founder of modern rock guitar. Rick Nelson, Bob Dylan, John Fogerty, George Harrison, Dave Edmunds, and Eric Clapton are among the many performers who have admitted starting out by copying Carl Perkins' songs or mannerisms. Paul McCartney conceded, "if there was no Carl Perkins, there would be no Beatles," and John Lennon admitted, "I had only three childhood idols: Elvis, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee."In addition to writing and performing his own music, Carl toured with good friend Johnny Cash for ten years. He also wrote the country classic, "Daddy Sang Bass" which Johnny recorded. That song was nominated for the Country Song of the Year by the Country Music Association. The year 2000 marks the forty fifth anniversary of BLUE SUEDE SHOES. To honor this rock n' roll milestone, ArtistOne.com has just released a tribute album featuring some of the greatest names in music. Guest artists performing duets with Carl include: Bono, Johnny Cash, John Fogerty, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Willie Nelson, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Paul Simon, and Ringo Starr. In addition, the album features Jimi Hendrix performing BLUE SUEDE SHOES. Go Cat Go! Is destined to become a rock n' roll classic. Some of the other musicians appearing on this record are Clarence Clemons, Charlie Daniels, Rick Danko, Sheila E, Dr. John, Jesse Johnson, Jim Keltner, Billy Preston, and Joe Walsh. Producing credits include: Bob Johnston, George Harrison, Eddie Kramer, George Martin, Paul McCartney, Tom Petty, Paul Simon, and Joe Walsh.
