Artist History
Sally and Louise were neighbors in the war zone that was Carpenter Avenue in Oak Park IL in 1965. Ostracized for their nonconformist tendencies, they became fast friends and musical colleagues. Louise died unexpectedly in 1996 as this album was in the planning stage. Sally completed it in 1997, adding her parts to Louise's unfinished 4-track masters. |

Press Reviews
Once in a great while you see a movie or hear a song that is unlike anything else. This is one of those songs. This track ["Lousy Chow and How"] is long, over 8 minutes, but I can't stop listening. It is driving me nuts, but I love it! The setting is 1917, the Fair and Carousels. If you want something totally different than anything you have ever heard, check this one out, then...listen to their other stuff. Great work! - RB's SHOWTIME ENCORE . . I really like the idea of "retrogressive electronica". I have a definite weakness for the old gramophone sound, especially if the needle is a bit worn or the disc in less than perfect condition. I love the gentleness and the wistfulness of this piece ["Light The Lamp of Thy Love"], it touches on what my paintings are about. I also love how it reminds me of "Quentin's Theme" from Dark Shadows or "Innocent When You Dream" (78 version) by Tom Waits at least in spirit. The Past isn't just a time, but a place...
