    Artist History
By combining hyperblasting grindcore with the technicality of Death Metal, Myopia truly is brutal death grind. The band has quickly gained a respectable following throughout the Vancouver metal community with their awe inspiring, intense style of Death metal. Formed in May 1997, Myopia was built on the foundations of the Vancouver hardcore band, Pipebomb. Myopia was formed with the intent of taking Canadian grindcore to bold new extremes. Over the years Myopia has seen members come and go. These occasional upgrades have kept the band on a steady course of progression, and in a genre where there is just no room for weak links, Myopia is as strong as they come. In the summer of 1997, Myopia's first release, "Dilution of Pain" was recorded and independently released. This grinding eight-song demo received accolades from various sources, including Weedcore.com and Intense Sounds of Death Metal (Bloodsoaked Promotions) webzines. Encouraged by the feedback they received from “Dilution of Pain”, Myopia continued to headline local Metal fests, all the while writing the material for their next release, “Ecstacy in Discord”. Ecstacy in Discord was recorded in August 1998 and was once again Independently released and distributed mainly over the Internet. But the 16-track recording just didn't do the songs justice, and the band gave up on it before it could really catch on. In the year 2000 Myopia recorded their debut CD, "Concentration of Suffering", an 8 song, 24 minute trip into the realms of professionally produced death metal brutality. This self-financed release has been very well received worldwide in the underground death metal scene, and has sold consistently for a little known band with meagre resources. The year 2001 has seen the strongest Myopia yet sharpen their all out metal attack to a razor’s edge with 8 new songs and a new 3 song demo CD, “Blood Pools”, available from the band by request. Melding brutality, melody, technicality, and sheer heaviness, Myopia is poised to obliterate the underground metal scene in the new millenium.

    Press Reviews
SOD Magazine #16 Winter 2000..... Concentration of Suffering blows away over half of the major death metal releases this year in terms of productions, brutality, technical wizardry and innovation. Combining the blurring speed of Grindcore and the technicality of Death Metal, Myopia has crafted a unique and ultra brutal style of music that attacks the listener with a ferocity that is truly awesome to behold. Fans of Cryptopsy style technical Death Metal will be well rewarded for seeking this one out. [ 8.5 Skulls ]......Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles Magazine #46 December 2000....Myopia-Concentration of Suffering.....Eight Songs, twenty four minutes, one brutal grindcore experience. Frontman Dave the Butcher sounds as though he's singing from his bowels rather than his mouth. Fans of Soilent Green should appreciate Myopia as they are fast, technical, and full of breakneck blast beats. Riffs are plentiful, tempos are varied, changes are executed perfectly and the sheer heaviness is usually unobtainable for indie bands; an exhilarating, intense listen. If Myopia can maintain this intensity live, they'll be welcome wherever the extreme, underground scene flourishes. [ 8 ]......Repulse America Mailorder.....Yum, gotta love these bands that go out on their own and end up producing awesome quality brutal death metal! We, or should I say properly, I, at this distro will always support such bands. Myopia is one of those bands that is always a pleasant surprise in the PO Box good production, sick vocals, kick ass music a little Suffocation, a little Deeds of Flesh, a tiny sprinkling of Dying Fetus and Monstrosity then BAM a new band arises. I know you people reading this like the brutal bands, this is one of them.
