Artist description The band on this record includes Mary Lorson (drums, piano, backing vocals) and Billy Cote (bass and guitar) of Madder Rose, St. Low, and Jazz Canon... plus other cool rockers from the Ithaca area... Mike Edmondson of the Johnny Dowd Band... It was an honor to play with such experienced and talented people.

Music Style My work has been described as "literary". Lyrics are important to me. Stories are important to me. Character and motivation figure into my songs. The songs are portraits; soliloquies of love, loss, fury and desire.

Musical Influences I am influenced by everything I hear... weird AM radio... techno music... My neighbors. Cats in heat. Pigeons. My answering machine.

Similar Artists The Velvet Underground. Also PJ Harvey. I have heard Liz Phair on occasion. Nick Cave. Nico... Lou Reed. Recently, Courtney Love.

Artist History I wrote these songs and put out a limited edition walkman recording called "I wear black on the outside, not only because black is how I feel on the inside, but also because it is slimming and conceals dirt" and gave a copy to Billy and Mary. Ultimately we decided to work together, which was great. I admire them both immensely. I had always admired everything I ever saw Mike Edmondson do with the Johnny Dowd Band, so I asked him to play on a few tracks and he did. Ithaca All-Stars Matt Morano (drums), Joe Myer (violin) and Brian Dozoretz (bass) also play on the record. Again, I am so lucky to have had them.

Group Members Now that I live in the big city, I am putting together a band to back the album up live. So far it's me, Paul Rossi, and Stephen Baniak.
