Artist History
The Kingsnakes have been bringing their own blend of blues-based rock and roll to the Detroit area since the spring of 1998, when they took the job of house band at a hole-in-the-wall dive in the pits of Inkster, Michigan, called Fire and Ice. After playing a few months as the house band, they quickly moved on to bigger and better gigs. Notably playing for hundreds at the infamous Hash Bash in Ann Arbor and opening for The Detroit Music Awards Best Local Band, The Howling Diablos, at Ann Arbor radio station WIQB's "Summer Shindig" at Barnstormers in Whitmore Lake. The band formed when lead guitarist Daniel Rossi brought rhythm guitarist K.R. Broderdorf and bassist Tommy Diaz together. The search for a singer ended soon after when they heard the soul-touching vocal chords of singer Thomas Mann. Two months later, they crossed paths with drummer Steven Pelloni and The Kingsnakes were born! "You guys sound GREAT!" emphasized 89X disc jockey Kelly Brown at Detroit's Whitney Restaurant, where they played with Solid Frog to a packed house at the Windsor radio station CIMX 89X's 'Garden Party at The Whitney'. "I had you as one of my top three bands" said Detroit Free Press writer, and judge of the Palace’s Opening Act contest, David Lyman. "You guys are definitely Detroit rock and roll!" The Kingsnakes were one of eight bands chosen as finalists in the contest. Over 250 bands from across the state entered the contest. Currently, the band is working on and recording their upcoming CD at The Loft Studio in Saline MI. They are using every opportunity to play in and around the Detroit area to showcase their material. Press Reviews
Beginning three years ago in hopes of rockin' the Motor City, they managed to strut their stuff at Ann Arbors' Hash Bash last year. This blues based straight in-your face rock'n'roll group consists of Thomas Mann on vocals, Daniel Rossi on lead guitar, K.R. Broderdorf on rhythm guitar, Tommy Diaz on bass and Steven Pelloni on drums. Their sound is derived from an MC5/Black Crowes type of vibe and their great lyrics are offset beautifully by Thomas Mann's intense voice. -Aimee Spencer, Real Detroit Magazine March 2-8, 2000 |
