Artist History
Generation Hate was formed,as Morgue Feast, in early 1999 by: Corey Wilson (guitar and vocals), Chase Helms (bass guitar), and Calvin Parker (drums). They started as an intense metal band, almost Death Metal. They wanted to write their own songs and play their own music. The band began to write together, but Corey didn't want the pressure of having to write the music and the lyrics, so they began the search for a singer. They posted ads at local music stores, and record stores. Chad Clark answered an ad from a local record shop, and went and rehearsed with the band. His vocal style wasn't really DEATH METAL, but POWERFUL!!!!! The band ultimately chose Chad as their new singer. The band then went into furious rehearsal. Writing 4 songs in one day. Around this time, the band wanted to change their name. They all put their two cents in, and came up with: GENERATION HATE. The band still felt that something was missing: a second guitarist. The band chose Jeff Brooks and played their first show ever. The response was not overwhelming, but it gave people a chance to hear the bands raw metal sound. Upon completion of the show, Jeff was relieved of his duties as second guitarist. The band began to look for another guitarist, and found Steve Barnes. Steve was a friend of the band, and agreed to join. The band then went into rehearsal, writing songs, and finding their groove as a band. They began playin shows in the Summer of '99, playing at the Gaslight 2 in Peoria, Illinois. The band played with alot of bands including: Low 12, Provoke, Crop Circle, and Pipe Theory. The band also released their first demo, 'Wake Up Call", during this time. After a September 5th appearance in Urbana, Illinois, the band decided to take a month off before getting back into the swing of things. Now it's the year 2000, and GENERATION HATE is ready to tear ass in the new millenium as well we have recently been signed to D-Day Records out of Wisconsin and Steve has left the band for personal reasons and we all wish him the Best Of Luck If it hadn't been for him we never would have gotten to where we are today, he has been replaced by Rob Harris a killer guitarist who Corey has known for years |
