Artist description
vrumjaago's blend of ultra-slick synth pop definitely pays homage to bands that came before them, but manage to put their own distinct spin on things; successfully avoiding the 'sound-a-like' trap. as they like to say, "we're a band with an ear to the past and an eye on the future." i think that sums it up nicely. |

Artist History
what initially started in 1994 as a one man band doing ambient electronica has now become a synth pop sensation. "i realized that orbital-esque dance music wasn't being very true to who i reall was. it was then that stopped being ashamed of loving synth pop and tried to incorporate it into what i did." says jason wann. after placing an ad in a local music paper, and several disasterous applicants later, he met mark johnson. "meeting mark was like a breath of fresh air. he completely understood where i was coming from musically, and had a phenomenal voice to boot." it wasn't long after that they dove head first into thier debut album as a duo... |

Press Reviews
from 'future music' april 2000: "the mistake most people make when it comes to producing any form of dance music is slapping a straight four-on-the-floor beat down without fully realizing that drum elements of a track can be of paramount importance in setting the mood of a track. vrumjaago, escapes this trap with dignity very much intact. from the off, 'wax' really grabs the attention, and it's mainly due to do with the razor sharp hi-hats, intriguingly syncopated kick and manic snares. the bass sits quietly in the background but the the various melodic timbres set the whole thing off perfectly." from the 'lake oswego review' may 4 2000: " a pleasing montage of sound and melody " |
