Artist description
One of the Mightiest bands in Detroit, The Brothers Groove have been performing their unique "soul food stew" of music for over three years. Along the Way they've Jammed with Kid Rock, John Popper of Blues Traveler, J.C. Chavez of N'SYNC and many others. They've Released a Studio CD "Clamp it Down" a Live CD "Layin in the Cut" and a Christmas Single "Funky Santa". Live shows are filled with improvisation and interaction among band members that borders on the telepathic. |

Press Reviews
Melissa Giannini of The Metro Times says “…these three guys have a musical dexterity that transcends an eternity of bar band status…And there's definitely a brain inside the funk soul groove they bring to a boil at every show, with hints of inspiration from contemporaries such as Jamiroquai, Medeski, Martin & Wood and G. Love. Reaching further back, you hear straight up Parliament funk and even a bluesy vocal style…The band mixes organ wails and tempo changes with funk bass and jazzy MMW-style drums, but what makes the sound distinctive is the prominence of vocals and humor in the jams…Overall, it’s an uplifting melting pot of sound... the kind that puts one of those goofy smiles on your face that just won’t go away.Suzan Alteri of Real Detroit Weekly says “Right from the onset of ‘Pressure Cooker” you know these guys are in it for the fun they have making music, not that this means they aren’t serious about their business. Making the music sound effortless and like good down-home fun, Clamp it Down is an album of surprising talent.”Melody Batens of The Detroit News describes The Brothers Groove sound, “The music is funky with a capital F. groovy keyboards compliment the jazzy bass and drums-like peanut butter does jelly. Smart clever lyrics complete the package." |
