Artist description
Margie Adam is that rarity among pop acoustic performers: she does many things equally well. She is a pianist, composer, and songwriter. She is a singer, storyteller and social commentator. But it is her relationship to the piano that is center stage in her music and performance. |

Artist History
Margie belongs to the pop music tradition which led her, like George Gershwin, to stretch beyond songwriting into instrumental composition. She established herself as a composer-instrumentalist in l980 when she released a ground-breaking solo piano recording, NAKED KEYS confounding those who doubted there was a market for such a sound. In 1996 she recorded a second collection of solo piano material called "SOON and AGAIN." This project inspired the fifteen-city "Three of Hearts" Tour with pianists Liz Story and Barbara Higbie. Selections from both these recordings have served as themes and soundtrack music for many radio, film and video productions. Dance companies have created choreography to the music. Listeners of NPR's "Morning Edition" and "All Things Considered" will recognize music from both "NAKED KEYS" and "SOON and AGAIN." |

A kind maturity and a sure, real-life romanticism are banked deeply in her music. Her melodies are graceful and inviting... her piano spacious and sophisticated." - THE BOSTON GLOBE |
