Artist History
KC Wilkerson has performed his solo acoustic guitar and vocals act professionally for the last twelve years and has been performing for audiences since he was a child. He has played at hundreds of locations including night clubs, universities, festivals, coffee spots, taverns, restaurants, private and block parties. Originally from Kansas City (hence the stage-name KC) he has also performed in Boston, Fort Myers, Hollywood, L.A., Chicago and Milwaukee.KC's original songs and lyrics range from joyous fun to more serious concerns but always contain a heart-felt and often hidden message. He writes classic folk music drawn from his life experience and his various interests including meditation, yoga and native American teachings. Most of the music he has composed is a combination of folk, jazz, blues and country, creating a unique sound that is difficult to categorize. His music has been described in many ways from 'easy to listen to' and 'awesome' to 'energizing' and appeals to a variety of age groups.Without sounding condescending, preachy or depressing, some of KC's songs are along the lines of a 'public service announcement' based on current events. For example: "Save Our Momma" is about caring for the planet and was performed at the twentieth year anniversary of Earth Day in Chicago's Grant Park; "Good Bad Example" written about Tienenmen Square, and performed while the news was still being reported, encourages us to speak up about human rights violations like Kent State; "Drunk, Dumb, Dead" talks about not 'drinking and driving' from a 'partier's' point of view; and "White Fire" points out that now is the time for healing the past regarding relations with native Americans.Once KC was asked to write a song for a nonprofit political event that was attempting to unite the homeless into a voting coalition. After studying their materials the song "Voters From the Street" was written and accepted. It was then performed by KC and recorded live at the main event. "Voters From the Street" was selected as an integral part of a video tape promotional package that was used in Washington D.C. and sent to the President. Now KC has completed his original solo album with a great group of musicians from in Phoenix area. This new CD is soon to be released and was produced by Randy Wade. |

Press Reviews
KC Wilkerson - Run Jump Fly By Jessica Simmons of NEFARIOUS ENTERTAINMENT MAGAZINE This man and his guitar tell the tale of life acoustic style. "People often get to crowded... Make room to find my dreams... I would like to work at home... Fit my work into my life Not the other way around." I enjoyed the soft tunes from the guitar and the meaningful lyrics that KC Wilkerson put forth in his CD Run Jump Fly. This is a well seasoned artist with many life experiences that seemed to flow through his music. Personally, my favorite songs were "Spread Out" and "Reincarnation". Pop open a bottle of wine, turn out the lights and relax while listening to this music. It is a great time to do some soul searching. Nefarious Rating of 4 - Has Great Polish, Originality, Rhythm. |
