Artist History
Forty Save One bring their modern rock sounds from Eugene, Oregon. The band was formed in early 1998 when 4 guys decided they wanted to get together and turn their amps up to "eleven", accept for the drummer (Dave, aka mun chang) who had a bit of trouble finding the word "eleven" on his drum kit. From then on they have been know to the world as Forty Save One, and have been creating good music ever since. Forty Save One disbanded in the spring of 2001. Press Reviews
CD reviews: July 23, 1999 SOMETHING FIERCE Forty Save One (Forty Save One) "After listening to this CD, I have only one bit of advice with respect to this new Eugene band: Catch a local show soon, because they aren't going to be around this area for long. Forty Save One is for real. - The band's advance material draws parallels with Plankeye. But Forty Save One is already the better band. The foursome - lead singer and songwriter Jason Johnson, guitarist Joel McCombs, drummer Dave Morgan and bass player Chris Collins. - This is rock 'n' roll without self-imposed limitations, like so much product put out to fit some predetermined niche. McCombs, in particular, is given the freedom to do some great riffs, with textures so rich you want to hear more. The music may go heavy on the power chords at times, but there are several little musical twists and turns that make this music fun for listeners - or at least those with rock 'n' roll hearts. I've reviewed four CDs in the past few weeks, some by highly honored acts, and this is simply my favorite. There's a freshness here that's missing in the other works. - If you love loud and free-wheeling rock 'n' roll, take a listen. You won't be disappointed." - Chris Metteer, The Register-Guard |
