Press Reviews
The Jetset21st Century Rock CDEP (2000, The Jetset)reviewed by Morten Johnny Jetson, the Buck Rogers of rockīnīroll, is a personal favourite of mine. His trademark supersonic guitar in various bands, including the now sadly defunct Space Age Playboys, always makes for great hard rock listening. I had the pleasure to catch the Playboys live a while back and I can tell you heīs a little guy, but his showmanship is as big as a planet. This homemade CDEP features 8 tracks and judged by the sound they couldīve been Playboys tracks, which isnīt necessarily a bad thing. There might not be much news under the Jet-sun here, but letīs face it - why fix what isnīt broken?! I understand that The Jetset are as yet unsigned, which really is a shame, cuz what weīve got here pretty much blows most bands in the recent new wave of sleaze rock (or whatever you wanna call it) right off the face of the earth with a sound vaguely described as Crüe on acid meets The Stooges on the Forbidden Planet. The tracks sound great, especially "We Love The Money" and "Rockets To The East", and though I miss some real standout tracks on par with the Playboys masterpiece, Iīm sure that with time The Jetset will be able to crank out a classic album - they have the skills, the sound and the looks to become the band that carried hard rock(īnīroll) into the new millenium in warp speed. Shit, they already have... |
