Artist description
We are from the island of Mauritius, off the east coast of Africa. We use traditional rhythms (sega and seggae 6/8 and african 12/8) as a base, then layer more modern melodies and arrangements, and end up with music. |

Group Members
3 of Tahé's members are ex-members of Kaya's band, the legend of Mauritian music: Sabrina Simiette (vocals), Gilbert Kupusamy (vocals, drums) and Damien Elisa (keyboards). (Kaya was killed by police in a jail cell in February 1999. In the aftermath, riots and civil war-like conditions plagued the usually peaceful island nation, and this event has left an irreparable wound in the hearts of all Mauritians ever since.) The rest of the band is comprised of Marc Boullé on guitar, Richard Hein on bass, and Johnny Joseph on drums and percussion. The band was originally formed in 1997, and “Pay Natal” is their first full length CD, released in July 2000. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered at Kapricorn Studios, Mauritius by Richard Hein, the band’s bass player and sound engineer. |
