    Artist description
In 1997, Steve, Chris and Kevin embarked on their musical careers in the small, close-knit town of Perry, Florida. The three members jammed out cover songs, as well as creating original music for their band, Seize the Day. A year later, the band began to make a name for themselves in the north Florida area, playing at Potbelly’s and the Sweet Shop in Tallahassee, Club La Vela in Panama City Beach and Eddie C’s in Gainesville. Then in 2000, the band began to experiment with a heavier sound and stronger lyrics. This change in style propelled the group to reform their sound as well as band members, recruiting Brad Melton as their bassist, forming Pivotal. In the following years, Pivotal developed into one of Tallahassee’s premier heavy/hard rock bands. Throughout Tallahassee, Pivotal has played popular venues, such as, Floyd’s Music Store, The Cow Haus/Beta Bar, Bullwinkle’s and Late Night Library. Pivotal found themselves playing regularly at Floyd’s, the top club in Tallahassee for local and national acts. Moreover, Pivotal has played throughout Florida and Georgia, frequently hitting; Jacksonville’s Free Bird Caf, Tampa’s State Theatre, Gainesville’s Purple Porpoise and Thomasville’s Rick’s Oyster Bar. Pivotal is also collecting media attention from the surrounding radio stations and local newspapers. Currently, Pivotal is receiving airplay from Tallahassee’s new rock station WXSR X101.5, Albany’s WFXF 97.3 the FOX, and has received airplay from Tampa’s 98 ROCK. Pivotal appeared at X101.5’s, Xcess Fest, and is featured on the Locals Only 3 compilation album. Moreover, after experiencing Pivotal’s sound, the Tallahassee Democrat stated, “Hard, heavy and hot! Local band Pivotal's hard-charging heavy rock sound is powered by heart and smarts. They sharpened their chops in Tallahassee with shows opening for Skrape, GWAR, Soil and Trust Company, among others, until the music was as hard and honed as polished steel. The band hasn't sacrificed emotion and intelligence along the way, though.” In addition, the FSView raves, "Their dynamic live shows and thought provoking music makes them a band to be reckoned with, performing with a number of major label and regional touring acts has created a definite buzz in Tallahassee."

    Press Reviews
Review by bobby from godsofmusic.com This track (lust) is a good ol', swampy bone cruncher appropriate for a band that hails from Florida's swamplands. Raw, tight and aggressive, the song still finds room for a melodic dynamic that renders itself pleasantly enough. It begins with Steve Collins' very cool reverse guitar intro that is quickly followed by the bass and drums in a heavy onslaught. I beginning so that they know when the song has begun and a bang at the end to let them know when it is over." That is what this band does. After establishing their sound, they drop back into an almost hypnotic guitar part that allows for a very promising vocalist by the name of Kevin Johnson to come in smoothly. As I have said before, this part really conjured up the dank, humid swamps of their native Florida. The downplayed energy of the verse builds to an appropriately heavy climax in the first chorus. After coming out of this direct and "straight to the point" attack, the band settles back into its verse, this time with drummer Chris McIntyre accentuating the, previously mentioned, hypnotic guitar with some very clever and well placed tom fills. Very nice. Bassist, Brian Stroud does exactly what he needs to do: holds the structural integrity of the song's foundation, keeping it simple and solid. It is plainly clear that such current trendsetters as “Godsmack”, “Sevendust” and “Creed” influence this bandbelieve it was in the movie "Amadeus" where it was said, "give 'em a bang at the . However there is something authentic here and the band delivers its work with sincerity that I find touching; and most importantly, they deliver their sound as a band rather than several disjointed egos vying for attention. It is obvious that they are tight as well as familiar with each other’s abilities, and have gone to the trouble to make a well-recorded product. PIVOTAL sounds as if they would be able to hold their own with those that they list as their influences. It should not be too long before they wind up on some A&R person's desk and I wish them much luck in the process.
