Artist description
Joe, Marc's Brother comprises at its core, the brothers, Joe and Marc Pisapia. The brothers moved to Nashville from their native home of New Jersey in '94. Joe and Marc attracted others to help manifest their musical vision and in '96 they recorded The Debut of Joe, Marc's Brother at Memphis' renowned Ardent Studios. This release garnered critical acclaim, a regional fan base and landed several songs on various compilations including: The Soundtrack to the Bible Belt (along with Olivia Tremor Control & Remy Zero) and Nashpop on Not Lame Records. The band played as a four piece and developed a solid following in the Southeast as well as in New York and Philadelphia. "Ronelle," the lead-off track to the debut album received airplay on many commercial stations throughout the Southeast including: WRLT/Nashville, WDRE/Memphis, KDRE/Little Rock, Z107/Jackson, MS, and Z95/Augusta GA. The band, which then included Pete Langella and David Mead on bass and guitar respectively, returned to Ardent Studios at the end of '96. This 6-song recording spawned "She's Gonna Be My Girl" which was chosen for the "who's who of pop" compilation, Yellow Pills Vol.4 (Big Deal/Caroline).In its next stage of evolution, the band decided to refocus as a three-piece with bass player /old friend James (Hags) Haggerty. In an effort to redefine themselves the band spent most of '98 in a house with a huge basement writing, recording, and honing the sound that is now characteristic of the unit. In the spring and autumn of 1999 they took their bold new direction into the studio with producers Brad Jones & Robin Eaton (Jill Sobule, Jump Little Children, Cotton Mather, Marshall Crenshaw). The album, "Around the Year With Joe, Marc's Brother" is scheduled for a May release date.In addition to their work together as JMB, the band spent late '98 and '99 individually and collectively collaborating with other artists including: Kami Lyle (MCA), Josh Rouse (Ryko), David Mead (RCA), Reno (Curb), and has toured extensively (including TV appearances) with Radney Foster (Arista). Some other collaborative efforts of late have found Joe in the producer's chair and JMB in the studio. Joe has produced works for Nashville artists Bob Bradley and Lynne Drennan. In the winter of 2000 Joe produced the first half of an album for Broadway/ film star Anthony Rapp ("Rent," "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown," "Dazed and Confused," and the soon to be released DreamWorks film, "Roadtrip"). Joe is currently co-producing an album with Roger Moutenot (Paula Cole, Yo La Tengo, Lou Reed), for the Pierce Sisters on Epic records. Joe, Marc's Brother is the band featured on many of these tracks. |
