Artist description
Award-winning saxophonist-poet-author Ian Halperin's musicdoesn't cut across generic boundaries so much as rise above them. His sax, speech and song hasovertones of a voice from the crypt. In his lyrics and music the tension between his affectless attitude and his suppressed fury is palpable and gripping. Ian incorporates the works of artists from various different mediums in music, dance and visual artsto create a blend of echoes of quasi-mystical ambiance and visionary imagery. He plays multiple roles, from dry journalistic observer to angry, grief stricken friend to mystical philosopher. |
