Artist History
Rumour has it, 'Big Luke' met Donohoe in a Las Vegas Hotel. Ballard going under the name of Long Tall Ballard was hawking his talents as a Long Tall Man around the local entertainment halls. Donohoe, not for the first time, was down on his luck and attempting to sell his lungsIn a bizarre attempt to get credit at the local casino. Allegedly they got talkingover a large beer and concocted a cunning plan to conquer the music scene without the aid of a safety net. They would not meet Pete Emery for another 30 years. This again is only hearsay, but the story goes that Ballard & Donohoe fresh from a summer season at at Saucy Sues Nitespot and Massage Parlour with their new act found Relaxation in a local lap dancing club. This is where they met Emery. The Emery dance captivated the whole club and as legend has it, his amazing trick with a coconut gave birth to the bands name. The threesome then set to work on some ill fated ventures; Musicals called Draughts, Guys and More Guys and Dave Donners Superstar were all flops. Ballard lost millions on an ill advised Rock Benefit concert for Ted Bundy and Emery became a laughing stock after trying to appear on Stars in Their Eyes as himself. All this could have seen the end of possibly the finest unknown band never to grace the business….But thank the Lord, here they are in their full glory….. |
