Press Reviews
I'll start off with saying the challenge of this review will be trying to find how many ways I can say," I really like this CD." This may be the best debut CD I've heard in the last five years in the Christian music market. Gears of Redemption and Godfather Records have put together a product that demands the attention of all hard music fans. The production on this release is top quality which allows the talent of Gears of Redemption to shine through. Because of this, the listener can hear how tight these guys sound together--an aspect which usually alludes most new bands. The guitar work in connection with the bass and drums gives this band a sound that is as solid as anyone I've heard. The vocals are sung for the most part with a few screaming exceptions which also fit this sound very well. The only thing that gives me a hint that these guys are a new band is that the vocals seemed to be straining at times. This is thing that makes vocals polished is time and experience Although I am having a hard time picking out my favorite song, the one that sticks out to me is "God's Face." Check out both the lyrics and the interview to see why this song has so much meaning. I can not help but compare these guys to Sevendust. There are many similarities in both the vocal style and the overall groove. I also think there is a lack of bands that have this heavy groove to their music, especially in the Christian market. Therefore, Gears of Redemption have filled a void that badly needed to be filled and did it with one of the best freshman releases that I've ever heard. Anyone who is a fan of Sevendust or even P.O.D. must do themselves a favor and get this CD as soon as they can. Everyone else would be smart to give these guys a listening to as this is not the last time you'll hear of Gears of Redemption. - Jason Best / GodCore.comhttp://www.godcore.com |
