Artist description
What is Freightliner? Freightliner is a sound developed by three semi-retired ravers from Gainesville FL. Schooled in techno by the residents at Simons night club during the mid-nineties; Tim Rockwell and Iaon Cottrell began producing original music that was a little bit darker, a little bit harder and a LOT more acidic than the progressive house that became so popular in the late nineties. They believed in the sound, combining acid house and hard trance, and continued to break new ground with analog sounds in digital production. Then they met a DJ who believed in their sound as well. DJ Pac-Man thought the old school 303’s, techno sample work and pulsing four-to-the-floor percussion was the perfect formula for a new, breakthrough sound. Just for fun, they decided to throw down a set in the studio, with Pac-Man spinning over their songs. They clicked so well and the vibe was so intense that the third member of the group was instantly added.Together they perform a live PA of original songs that range from techno, and acid house, to hard trance. The live show is a continuos mix with tweaking and mixing of minimal records and samples going on live and freestyle. It creates an incredibly electric energy that is sure to infest the crowd. So if you’re tired of feel good anthems and house songs that just thump endlessly but don’t actually do anything or go anywhere, then check out Freightliner. |
