Artist description
High energy style of modern rock that is melodic and danceable. The soundscape ranges from contemporary rock to white-boy funk, from surf to British Invasion psychedelic pop. Short songwriter tunes based on acoustic guitar and organ are mixed with longer and louder electric songs that use two guitars playing off each other. There are at least three directions the band can go in, and sometimes we try to combine them all...with varying results. |

Artist History
Way back in the 20th century, a few grizzled klondikes dropped dead before they even made it to gold country... From their ashes rose Foamscape. The name was derived from 2010: A Space Oddysey, by Arthur C. Clarke. It is relevant since one of the few exciting things in the retirement/tourist community of Monterey is the crashing waves and the ample layers of foam above. Anyway, the first incarnation of Foamscape opened for genius pop songwriter Parthenon Huxley in 1996, and we haven't looked back since. We changed bass players in 1998 and have been fortunate to open gigs for Eric Burdon & the New Animals, David Wakeling/English Beat, Dread Zeppelin and Gene Loves Jezebel. Well, 3 out of 4 ain't bad. Foamscape's song "Lost 'N' Found" was featured on the 1997 Monterey Rock CD and the group won the "Most Underrated Band Award" from the Monterey Herald in 1998. Finally, their 12 song CD Anywhere, Everywhere is complete, summing up all the styles the band dabbles in. Check out 4 of the 13 songs on this site. |

Group Members
Mac Talley is the singer/songwriter/guitarist from NYC, residing in Pacific Grove (but moving to Santa Barbara), where he writes novels nobody reads and paints paintings nobody wants to see. Mac is the blurred visionary of Foamscape. Bassist/vocalist Roger Rodgers grew up on the prison block and now lives on a Christmas tree farm near Watsonville, and has not contacted the other bandmembers since our Sept. 1st gig. Roger is currently MIA. Jim Chatterton lives in scenic Sand City, in an apartment crammed with instruments, recording equipment, tons of CD's and even more magazines. Jim dictates a band called Vera, and is the technician of Foamscape. Rod "Hell-rod" Wilson lives with his folks in the wild & crime-ridden streets of Carmel and is famous for his tardiness, and no frills style of drumming. Vel-crod has played in numerous combos (Talleyman, Backtracks, Kon-Tiki & Bad Dawgs) over the decades. He is an enigma wrapped in a mystery, wrapped in a puzzle, but is undoubtedly the mascot of Foamscape. |
