Artist description
The Rythmatics is a four-piece blues band, concentrating on straight-ahead and rock-influenced blues. We also do a smattering of R&B, reggae and pop covers. The band is fronted by Don Perkins, a wide-ranged belter who doubles as the group's horn section using a wind synthesizer. Guitarist Frank Weckerle is a master from the "simpler is better" school who used to play the LA club scene. A stunning improvisor and all-around player, we try to show him off as much as possible.Bassist Marty Cohen also does a fair share of the vocals. Marty originally hails from NY and is a master of music trivia. He has an impressive collection of electric and acoustic basses, worthy of a player of his calibre.Drummer Dave Thomas is a San Jose native and darn good skin slapper -- in spite of his tendency to leave a pile of sticks on the ground... We're mainly a party band with the heart of an art band. |
