Artist History
Taalam Acey was born Mtaalamu Weusi (Black Scholar) Acey. He is a native of Newark, NJ where he attended Rutgers University and earned a BS in Accounting and an MBA in Finance. He has been penning lyrics since the age of nine. Acey was a member of the 1999 Nuyorican Slam Team representing New York City. He has also opened up for acitivist Dick Gregory on PBS. He has featured at venues throughout the continental United States and Canada. His work is collected in the cd “Morally Bankrupt Volume One: The Wickedest Man in Babylon” which has enjoyed healthy sales throughout north america and is perhaps the best selling “slam” poetry CD in recent history. In addition to his own CD, he has produced several CDs for other national poets. Acey is currently producing the sequel to his first CD entitled “Morally Bankrupt Volume II: Pain Remover.” |
