    Artist description
Sematic delves into a dark, thoughtfull flavour of music which leaves the listener thinking about what they have heard - and wanting to hear more. Excellent beats and samples combine in a very often deep, carefully produced manner. In all, Sematic plays with original and conventional themes to create innovative music that is definitely a must hear. by aois-dubh

    Press Reviews
from raw42.com:quantum is a very explosive track of all dimensions. the beats, frantic and sharp, the buzzing synth fx's are electric and the bassline just shoves you around the place! infact, the whole track reminded me of one of mp3.coms finest dnb artists that have been around – twisted pair/hole in the floor. its that big sound analogue synth that's doing it. there is an underlying sub tone to the main bass line but maybe it could have been beefed up and really put a nice dark sound to the tune. one thing that i like about this tune is the use of "multi bass lines" some producers today rely too heavily on just one or two...i count at least 4 here in quantum and it would certainly keep a crowd on a floor anywhere in the world. after listening to sematics tunes for a couple of days now, his main forte is his fx sounds buzzing and whizzing around in the background...totally unique and full of lots of movement... sure signs of a great production where the listener isn't just thinking...."mmm yeah an fx chucked in there then"! if the beats weren't lively enough for you in this track...they totally flip out around half way through with a great breakdown and a great sounding percussive break is overlaid gives the tune a great attitude. smashing into the new millennium, sematic hits it hard with his dnb style and must be added to the top tracks list a definite raw gold award!another phazing drifting intro and we are transported again to the crazy dimensions of sematic in the grid. this time around a wild "electric guitar" sounding b-line pulls you along and things are a little sparser than in the previous tune. tons of percussion going off in this track. a great open hi-hat comes and goes and gives it that nice raw hip-hop flavour. all the comments of the production quality of these guys has been covered in the previous track review and its all of the same high standard here. there is great space in the tracks and nothing is overdone or mis-used. it's the beats and the percussion that are keeping my attention here, there's a frantic drum roll sequence utilised in a break and the same rolling percussion element that was used in quantum is heard which is always a good thing in my book...gives an artist a "audio signature". big bad and dangerous is what im thinking here and all i have to worry about is which of these two im going to pass onto a record company. check this one in the top tracks list if ya think your hard enough!now i had a quick chat with ian (raw42 editor) a couple of days ago and he informed me that sematic had "re-submitted" way of life this track under a separate "down tempo" review submission. probably under the thinking that being listened to by a dnb reviewer, it might not get the props it deserved. well boys....how wrong can you be! its one of those pieces of music that makes you really stop what ever you are doing and think "wow....where am i going to here". it's a full on emotional ride of trip hop mellowness. frown if you must but this tune is sounding like a cross between "vangelis and moby". the modern day use of the vocal speeches and the big atmospherics of the great synth master. sematic are basically reminding you all out there, just how petty life would be without this great stuff known as music. when you hear emotional driven tracks like this, it makes you think of positive thoughts and of sweet dreams. of that possible chance of a higher dimension that we sometimes can touch when we listen, and are moved by music. this tune deserves a very big audience....maybe in a film...it reeks of a film score. its lonely piano, haunting pads which have a great "huge" sound to them and a very subtle plucked guitar instrument of some sort. top tracks list? this one needs to be in the top heavenly track list!thoroughtly recommended. sematic are going places.
