    Artist description
Carpe diem... Seize the day, so says the music of Taste Of Madness. A symphony of emotion challenging the limits of the mind, driving beyond boundaries and paving a path to a whole new reality. Originally founded as Molotov in 1992 by Gary Wingo, Taste Of Madness released their first full-length album during the summer of 1994. This album was titled "Only A Lifetime", a twelve-song journey through the perilous adventure of life. It was the first step in the eternal struggle to express the heart and soul of the human experience. From a vision of hope to a state of being, they managed to capture the essence of life's trials with a three-song demo release in early 1997. Cultivating the dream with the impression of each memory; Tempting feelings known and unknown; Bringing the listener to the edge of what is and what could be; Pushing each soul beyond apprehension to experience the epic story of life, liberty, love, and tragedy. So dare to surround yourself in the euphonious revolution that Taste Of Madness has brought once again in "Time Machine". Lifting you to a brave new world, breaking the ties that bind. Have you had your Taste Of Madness?

    Artist History
Gary Wingo had been writing songs primarily for his middle-school rock group, “Black Wolf,” at the end of 1989. With some new material under his belt, and a thirst for something better, he auditioned for “High Octane” during the summer of 1990, joining guitarist Patrick Bailey, and bassist Neil O’Brien. The trio renamed the band “Blue Passion,” and after 4 weeks of rehearsal, started playing the Denver scene, including venues like, “The Broadway,” and “Dimples.” Gary, being that he was only 15, actually had to get a permit from the D.A.’s office to legally play after 8:00pm…“Pat, Neil, and I, were together for as little as 3 months before we headed into the studio for our first, and only production as a trio, Molotov Cocktail. The recording was crude, but the songs were raw, and powerful. We knew that there was magic in the material we were playing. We continued on, rockin’ the Denver scene until my 17th birthday, when Carl Borsick joined us on the keys. Carl was a songwriter himself, and an exceptional pianist to say the least. The band began taking shape in 1992. Carl introduced guitarist David T. Van Laecke to the band the beginning of 1993. We felt we needed a stronger rhythmic force to compete with the local hair bands of the time, so we built an army. David was a vicious addition, and became more and more the front lead guitarist as practices continued. Pondering on a new name, Carl, with little hesitation, suggested MOLOTOV…it just stuck. The trio had quickly become a 5 piece, and we were off to record our next album, “Only a Lifetime.” The recording was amazing. The material, the music, the concept, and the tracks…it was all we had hoped for, and more. We produced 1000 cassettes, made some friends, and finally began thinking big. From that point, we were all over town. We were winning battle-of-the-bands hand over fist, and we were featured on KBPI’s “The Pit,” which earned us a 45-minute live spot on the air at “After the Gold Rush” in 1996.” ---Gary WingoSince then, the band has had many line-up changes. Pat and Neil had both quit by 1997, making the scarred quintet again a trio. Many guitarists tried to fill the void, but none solidified the sound until the arrival of Tony Warner. Tony brought teeth to the band, with a heavy “dark sided” signature sound. The new songs would reflect the maturing of Gary, Carl, and Dave, and would again provide the two-guitar crunch. The band went on to record an EP with “World Entertainment,” self-titled, “MOLOTOV,” at the end of ’96. It was part of a record solicitation deal that, unfortunately, fell through in the end. Tired, and overwhelmed with disappointment, the four temporarily disbanded in 1998. Dave and Gary forfeited the rights to MOLOTOV in 1999 to a rap/metal band out of Mexico, and ceased communication.By the turn of the millennium, however, the boys were missing the “good ol’ days.” It seemed like time had taken its toll on all of them. The quartet decided to reunite under a new name, and “TASTE OF MADNESS” was born. A few short months after practicing together again, T.O.M. released its most innovative collaboration yet, “Time Machine.” It’s the first full-length album since “Only a Lifetime,” retaining the concept album approach used in earlier compilations. With songs like, “Little Things,” and “Home,” the group now has a polished sound, influenced by titans like Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Pink Floyd, KISS, The Beatles, and Dream Theater. Already back in the studio, T.O.M. will be releasing its next album, “Immortal” this summer.

From: BRuce Chambers (www.javamusic.com/brucechambers) Date: 5/8/2001 11:42:39 AM Subject: Review: Fly High This band is very tight. I downloaded several songs from them and have concluded that they have the best vocal harmonies. With the right mix of keyboards and heavy guitar, this group is a gem. I find them to be more like the glam/hair bands from the late 80's with a mix of today's metal sound like Alice in Chains and Creed.
