    Artist description
Steven King Trio is [was] a three-piece group consisting of guitar, bass, and drums, which is a typical rock band ensemble, but they're far from typical. Their combination of influences makes for a new and unique sound somewhere between Metallica and The Carpenters. OK . . . maybe closer to The Carpenters.Dear Friends: As many of you may have heard, Steven King Trio is disbannded, defunct, dissolved, etc...well, sort of. It's been a year and a half since we started playing as Steven King Trio. SK3 to us is Steve, Cheech, and myself, playing songs written by the three of us as well as playing some cover songs. Cheech has since moved on to bigger, better things, and Steve and I have been reinventing ourselves, and our music. We've tried various drummers over the past 6 months, and are now happy to have Dave Lathum joining us to form this new project which we've dubbed "Way Space Ranger." Why the name change? 1. Cheech was a part of Steven King Trio...he's in NY 2. We're now playing all originals 3. Everyone thought we were a jazz trio 4. steve didn't like being in the spotlight 5. i write/sing 50% of the songs anyway... 6. change is good We hope we can count on your continued support, and thanks again, and finally for supporting Steven King Trio. See you on the dark side of the moon, John Glosson Steven King Trio

    Artist History
Steven King Trio was formed in April of 1999 from the remains of the local college band, “Play With A Rattle.” Founding member and drum guy, Chris “Cheech” Chiara and guitarist Steven King were the only remaining members after the other three dropped out/left/graduated. Cheech found local musician, John Glosson, waiting tables in a downtown Fayetteville restaurant, and later added him to the lineup as the new bass playin’ guy. Cheech is originally from Courtland, New York, but moved to Fayetteville to attend Methodist College for professional golf management (hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha . . .). At 22 years of age, he’s the youngest of the group and has been playing drums for 6 years. He enjoys romantic walks at the beach, flannel sheets, and cheese flavored snack foods.Steven King is a Fayetteville native, but has lived in both the Wilmington and Greenville areas, and performed with various bands since junior high. His first band, Kickin’ Dude Forces left an indelible mark on the N.C. Music scene for years to come (see Collapsis). He’s played guitar for 12 years, but only remembers 5 of them. The middle child at 25 years old, he enjoys National Public Radio, yard darts, and making jerky. John Glosson is also native to Fayetteville, but has lived in Monterey, California, and Raleigh, North Carolina as well. His musical interest started with the saxophone at age 12, but later progressed to guitar and bass in high school. His earlier band experience included such local favorites as Burlap and Hooked on Chronics. At 26 years old, his leisure activities are limited to pudding pops, naps, and small engine repair. This unique culmination of personalities makes for a unique sound which would be best described as “indie pop.” With influences including (but not limited to) Ben Folds Five, Flaming Lips, Phis, and Steely Dan, it’s hard to pigeon hole these bastards. SK3 recently rocked the house at the Fayetteville Dogwood Festival’s Battle of the Bands, and walked away with the first-place blue ribbon (and miss congeniality award), and were featured in Up & Coming magazine late last year. They have been consistently drawing a crowd at their shows for the past year, and with their up-beat tunes, catchy lyrics, and dynamic stage presence it’s no wonder why. . .jimmy jam with a whim wham bing bang.
