Artist History
Stavia has been playing the piano and writing songs since she was a little girl. She first joined a band in 1998- a folk rock band called Markus, which released an album 'Magic Garden' on the label Making Waves; this album got good press reviews; all the while Stavia found her musical style was developing its own feel, reflecting the range of sounds she was exposed to during her childhood in Kenya, as well as the usual western pop-rock found in London. In 1999 encouraged by a close friend, Tony Kiley - drummer with Chris de Burgh - she started focussing more on her own songs and style, and recorded her debut album, Forbidden Fruit. During the last two years the live band has developed into a regularly gigging band with a growing following and an excellent reputation for live performance.Through this, Stavia works part-time as a doctor in London. |
