Artist History
First there was Lee, then Thierry, then Crystal, then Rich. Three years later there's a band named Idylwood and a CD we think is pretty good. Lee played in several bands, mostly rock, mostly three- and four-piece. Thierry played in rock bands and a bluegrass octet. Rich was a trained classical pianist with DJ experience and an insatiable thirst for computerized gizmos. Crystal simply wanted to play, picked up a bass and astounded us with her ability to memorize words and tunes. The songs and music are all ours and they span decades of our lives. Lee wrote Mindless Woman in 1978, and the music for Too Many Moments dates from 1980. Words came 10 years later. Thierry's Les Départs and Changes were poems without melodies for more than 20 years. Rich crafted music for these two songs. He also composed the tunes for Lovers and Liars and No Regrets. Thierry then added lyrics. Crystal, unwilling to settle for the heartbeat patterns favored by many bass players, used her innate talent to provide strong and imaginative bass lines. We played and we practiced and we played some more and finally we bought a couple of ADATs and a Mackie board and we recorded. Our friend and drummer extraordinaire Nate Oliver provided the beat. Rich then devoted almost a year to mixing down the tracks. His dedication to the project was unfailing. Nobody died. Nobody got drunk. Contact us at www.Idylwoodtheband.com. We'll put you on our mailing list and let you know when and where we're playing. |
