Artist description
The band started in 1998 with Conor Gilles playing guitar, Jeff Gunderson playing drums, Caleb Rosenau on bass and Justin Todd doing vocals. The early music was very raw punk almost painful in its speed and brutal insensitivity. With the addition of second guitarist Tony Jenkin in 1999, Hatecrime was able to perform higher quality, more complicated, interesting heavy music that just zigged off the line of more traditional heavy metal/hardcore music such as Hatebreed or Earth Crisis. In early 2000, Stover Harger III was added to the band as a second vocalist after a party at which his “band”, The 86 Kids played. The addition of a concentrated, energetic, full-time second screamer created a dynamic that gives the band a definitive character. Then most recently “Bassman” Brian was added to replace original bass player Caleb Rosenau. Hatecrime is now ready to take the world by storm. |

Artist History
Hatecrime's sound is distinctly hard, but with diverse influences. The music is shaped by heavy, rarely relenting guitars and dynamic thunder-drumming, along with a unique and sometimes disturbing yell/screech dual vocal style. Indirect influences include Van Halen, Talking Heads, The Get up Kids, The Beatles, and Ween among many others, while more direct influences include Botch, V.O.D., The Dillinger Escape Plan, Isis, Refused, Harkonen and more. |
