Artist History
The band has played a variety of gigs, such as the Rock N Roll Marathon, local club dates, including the Belly Up Tavern, and local parties. The band's focus is on their originals, such as the driving "Silicon Valley Blues", or the melodic "More Than A Dream". However, included in their repertoire are a few classics by some of their influences such as Eric Clapton, the Rolling Stones and Muddy Waters. The group's lead singer and lead guitarist Alex Barclay's background comes from playing Northern California clubs and blues bars. Alex is one the band's primary songwriters, and his blistering leads and unique vocal style are the backbone of the Ruff Kut sound. The group's rhythm section is anchored by Max Carnage on drums. Max, another of Ruff Kut's songwriters, was raised on the styles of the Scorpions, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top and other classic hard rock bands. Versatile Bass player Steve Abeyta, who joined the band after leaving the local band Los Guys, plays in a variety of local music projects, one of which features him on the stand-up Bass. His straight up rock n' roll style and background vocals are an integral part of the Ruff Kut rhythm section. Rounding out the bands line-up is newcomer Steve Williams, who has been playing piano and keyboards since he was four years old. Steve's melodic keyboards, which reflect his classical training and blues influences, has added the missing ingredient to complete Ruff Kut's unique sound and style. Blues is the heart of rock n' roll, and Ruff Kut provides a fresh new blues rock n' roll sound guaranteed to impact any venue. |
