Artist History Irina, born and raised in Kazakhstan, a former republic of the Soviet Union in Central Asia, recently relocated to San Francisco from St. Petersburg, Russia. For the past 20 years, she has professionally composed, performed, recorded, and taught music in a broad spectrum of styles in many countries around the world. Irina is a cross-pollinating vocalist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist whose musical style reflects the rich traditions of Russia, the Middle East and Asia. Irina's versatile talents are evident as well on her 3 solo recordings as well as on albums by Ancient Future, Lumin, Eastern-European chooral ensemble Kitka, pagans of electronica Medicine drum, and pop sensation Jewel. She plays frequently in Europe, Japan, Mexico and USA and has performed at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD Festival in England.
