GYS produces a collection of sounds ranging from ambient, to phased-out detroit/berlin style techno, to dub, and all the way to drum'n'bass. "Deep" and "Dirty" are probably the best words to describe what GYS accomplishes. |

Artist History
Everything started for me back in 1994 when a good friend of mine turned me on to ambient music. Until then, I had never really been exposed to electronic music besides the electro/breakdance stuff I listened to when I was a kid. I immediately got immersed in genre and started building a collection. In 1995, I started college and met others who were into the same type of music. It was then that I got hooked up with the ele_mental group and started doing ambient dj sets. It was also during this time that I opened up to other forms of electronic music including detroit techno, minimal, and drum'n'bass. Vinyl crates began to multiply in my room as I was collecting all sorts of records. In 1997, I landed a cool summer job and made a bit of money so I started researching music equipment; started buying some simple stuff at first to enhance the turntable experience. Along comes 1999 and I find myself graduated from college and on my way to Boston. It was at this point that I really decided to start buying some music equipment and putting some effort into some tracks. Finally, in 2000, established the core of my studio and have been able to get some stuff together that sounds decent. Expect this site to grow rapidly! |
