    Artist History
Denise Levasseur, women of MP3.com "Song of the Year" Winner, recently completed her Tour to promote her latest release. She held a sold out Concert at The Garde Arts Center, New London, CT. She has been on Local and some national Radio, TV and Newspapers and is featured on many websites in the US, Canada and Europe. Denise’s CD and live shows received rave reviews. Her producer, Tony Walstra, was featured recently in MIX magazine for the quality of her Debut CD. This up and coming Pop Diva is well on her way to breaking out of her New England confines and taking on the world at large; its just a matter of time. Since her first date at a high school variety show, shes never looked back. "When I walked on stage I was a bit overwhelmed," she recalls, "then once I heard the applause I was hooked." Denise studied voice in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and eventually New York City. She toured the US and Europe covering an array of styles. Jazz, rock, and a variety of ethnic-tinged music all became her own, but her abiding first love remained Pop. One key to Denise's success is the mentoring of former CBS Records platinum award winning producer, Paul Leka. His informal lessons in songwriting, interpretation, performing, and the realities of the music biz have obviously left their mark. Denise's debut CD is a genuine labor of love, a culmination of many seasons of performing, writing, woodshedding, and dreaming. Producer Tony Walstra assembled a stellar cast of musicians for her debut project, and his expertise behind the board is evident. Confident, assured and very radio-friendly, its a mature work, ready for the Big League. An arrival. A grand entrance. Its Denise Levasseur. UPDATE: March 2003: Denise had a very busy year last year. Sorry for little update. She released a patriotic song after 9/11 under another stage name. She had been working with another Producer and marketing team. She is back using her name and in the studio working on her sophomore release of Denise Levasseur. So far the songs are really great. This album will have a little less pop sound. Please stay tuned!

    Press Reviews
Indiespace Music Review,: While Top 40 radio plays Mariah Carey and Celine Dion to overkill, artists like Denise Levasseur shine in their reflected glow. On her self-titled album, Levasseur shows more range and depth than either of the aforementioned divas, making this CD one of the five best pop albums I've heard in the last decade. From the ear-catching opening of "Losing My Control" through the tender "You're Still In My Heart," Levasseur maintains a spirited and passionate mood. You'll dance, sing along, snap your fingers, maybe even cry a little when she sings "King of my heart, pretender to the throne / You said you'd come back for me, back to take me home."I could easily compare Levasseur to artists such as Wild Orchid and Taylor Dayne, but comparisons do her a disservice. Levasseur is unique -- uniquely talented, uniquely fun to listen to. We go along for the ride as she travels through pop ("You Once Said You Loved Me"), gospel ("Tell The World"), and dance ("All My Love"). It's a blast all the way. In fact, I have only one complaint about this album: Nine songs is not enough! ************* The Day, New London, CT : What's even more pleasant is to realize how utterly competitive this CD is. Her ballads and dance material could easily fit into their radio formats anywhere in the country. The production, by label honcho Tony Walstra and Michael Bowdre, is terrific and crisp, and the songs are effortlessly catchy. Levasseur co-wrote the bulk of the material and stuff like "Losing My Control" and "All My Love" are perfect disco or aerobics soundtracks. Levasseur has a great voice for this kind of stuff, and it shines particularly well on the slower tunes. "That's What Our Love Is All About," "Tell the World," and "You Once Said You Loved Me," with its Spanish guitar flourishes, are high points. It's a pleasant surprise that southeastern Connecticut has not only a talent like Levasseur but the production skills to put out an album of this quality. *************** Norwich Bulletin, Norwich,CT : It speaks volumes about the caliber of musical talent in this area. It is a consistently solid disc packed with catchy pop dance tracks and lush ballads genuinely worthy of airplay alongside the likes of Faith, LeAnn and Britney. Smartly balanced between upbeat dance tunes like "All My Love" and the well-orchestrated love ballads such as "That's What Our Love Is All About" and "I'll Help you Find Your Way," the album also throws in a few nice surprises. There’s a catchy hand-clapping gospel-based number called "Tell The World." The writing here is as solid as the production, with several ballads that sound as if they might have come right off any one of those Oscar-winning Alan Menken or Tim Rice Disney scores. ********** Providence Journal-Bulletin, Providence, RI: "when Levasseur lets go, heads turn to see where 'The Voice' is coming from. It’s a pleasant surprise to realize that this strong voice comes from the petite young lady who lets her hair hang down figuratively and literally..." *********** Newport Daily News, Newport, RI: "with her band she can cut loose with a big gutsy sound... she’s completely Levasseur, what’s even more surprising is the voice. You don’t expect such a rich, deep sound coming from this woman who stands 5 feet 3 inches tall."
